Description
This is an icehouse built in the mid-19th century, located at Glenthorne. It is constructed from flat bedded local stone and features a slate lintel. The icehouse is set into a hillside, and while the exact internal layout is uncertain, it is believed to be based on a design by Loudon from "Cottage and Villa Architecture," published in 1853. The structure has a gabled front and a square-headed doorway, although the door is missing. The icehouse is listed primarily for its historic interest as part of the Glenthorne estate.
