Description
Malmsmead Bridge is a packhorse bridge, likely dating from the 17th to 18th century. It is constructed from coursed rubblestone and features a humped-back shape. The bridge has a pair of round arches with rubble voussoirs and central triangular cutwaters that have broach tops. The parapets are topped with rubble copings, and there are curved retaining walls at the abutments. This bridge carries the Brendon - Oare road over Badgworthy Water, which marks the county boundary at this location.
