Description

5 and 7 Kingsbridge Lane is a house with a wool loft, now divided into two homes. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The building has rendered walls, with the top storey of the rear wing covered in weatherboarding, likely to mimic original louvring. The roof is slated, while the rear wing is tarred. There is a rendered chimney at the back of the front range and a red-brick chimney on the rear wing. The structure is single-fronted and likely double-depth, featuring a cart entrance at the left end. The long wing to the right was originally partly used for wool storage. The building has three storeys and is two windows wide. The front doorway is flanked by pilasters and an entablature, with a door that has four glazed panels above and three flush panels below, along with panelled reveals. To the right, there is a small-paned bow window, which is probably a later addition. To the left, there are double plank doors with strap hinges and an iron ring handle. The upper storey windows are 8-paned sashes. The deep boxed eaves-cornice, likely a later addition, has what appears to be part of a smaller moulded bracketed cornice at its base. The rear wing features three triple-sashed windows on the left side of its second storey, with 6-paned sashes in the centre and 2-paned ones on the outside.
