Description
The building is a shippon with a barn located about 15 metres north-east of Northway Farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed of granite rubble and has a roof covered with corrugated iron, which appears to have originally been hipped at the left-hand end and half-hipped on the right. The structure is single-storey, with the shippon originally having a loft.
The shippon features a doorway with a granite lintel at the right-hand end and a small loading doorway above it, along with two ventilation slits to the left. The rear wall also has two similar slits, and the curved gable wall contains a third ventilation slit. The barn end has 20th-century double doors at the front and a blocked window in the rear wall. Inside, the shippon has an old, stone-lined drain in the centre, feeding-trough stones with holes for tethering-posts against each long wall, and a large granite trough at the right-hand end of the rear wall. The roof timbers were replaced in the 20th century.
