Description
This building is a shippon located approximately 20 metres south of North Creaber Farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century. It is constructed from large blocks of roughly-shaped granite laid in rough courses, with some areas almost resembling ashlar, and features a corrugated iron roof that was originally thatch.
The shippon is designed with a hayloft above, facing northwest and built across a slope. On the right side of the front, there is a doorway with a hayloft loading hatch above it, and to the left, there are two slit windows with a drain located between them. The roof is gable-ended. The left (northeastern) gable is heavily overgrown but seems to include a series of slit windows, which also contain a vent for the hayloft. The rear wall features a central hayloft loading hatch.
Inside, the shippon has plain carpentry details, and the roof has been replaced in the 20th century. This shippon, along with the barn and North Creaber Farmhouse, forms an attractive group.
