Description

Venton Bridge is a clapper bridge that crosses the East Webburn River. It dates from the 18th century or early 19th century and is constructed of granite. The bridge features three spans supported by abutments and piers made of large granite blocks. Heavy granite lintels rest on these piers, which have sharply-pointed cutwaters on the upstream side. There are 20th-century iron railings on each side of the top of the bridge, fixed to short granite posts.
