Description

Nos. 13, 14, and 14A on Fore Street in Buckfastleigh is a house that has been divided into three separate units. It was built around the 1830s and features mass wall construction that is stuccoed and blocked out, topped with a gabled slate roof. The building has end stacks, with the right end stack having a stone rubble shaft.

The house projects forward from the building line of other houses and shops on this side of Fore Street and has an L-shaped plan. The main block is double-depth and two rooms wide, with a passage entrance on the left that leads to a rear wing associated with a court.

The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front with regular fenestration. To the left is a recessed six-panel door with glazed upper panels and an overlight. To the right, there are two ground-floor and two first-floor windows, which are early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sashes, along with a 12-pane sash window on the first floor to the left. The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest.
