Description
Mona Lodge is a large town house from the early 19th century that has been divided into four separate dwellings. The main part of the building is a three-storey structure with three windows and a central entrance, flanked by slightly advanced two-storey wings. The exterior features stucco-rendered walls with ashlar scoring and rusticated quoins. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate, topped with clustered brick chimney stacks set diagonally.
The left half of the central block includes a three-storey, three-window range with an entrance beneath a central gable. The entrance to No. 2 Mona Lodge is through the left door of the adjoining pair, both of which have shallow rectangular fanlights with glazing bars. These doors are sheltered by a moulded wood cornice hood supported by square-section fluted pillars, now separated by a rendered brick wall. The ground floor windows on the sides are tripartite horned sash windows, while the first floor features six-pane horned sashes, with narrower windows above the porch and wider ones over the ground floor windows. The second floor has a central paired window flanked by six-pane horned sashes, all with slate sills. A moulded plaster cornice runs around the central gable, and the brick chimney above has paired stacks set diagonally. There is an additional brick chimney on the far left side along the lateral wall, featuring six clustered stacks set diagonally. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
