Description
Mona Lodge is a large town house from the early 19th century that has been divided into four separate dwellings. The main part of the building is symmetrically designed, featuring a three-storey central block with three windows and a central entrance, flanked by slightly advanced two-storey wings. The exterior is finished with stucco rendering that has ashlar scoring and slightly prominent rusticated quoins. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, featuring clustered brick stacks set diagonally with capping.
The right-hand half of the central block, which is part of the larger town house, includes an entrance beneath a central gable. The entrance to No. 3 Mona Lodge is through the right-hand door of a pair, each adorned with shallow rectangular fanlights that have glazing bars. These doors are sheltered by a moulded wood cornice hood supported by square-section fluted pillars and are now separated by a rendered brick wall. The ground floor windows on either side of the entrance are tripartite horned sash windows, while the first floor features six-pane horned sash windows, with narrower ones above the porch and wider ones above the flanking ground floor windows. The second floor has a central paired window flanked by six-pane horned sashes, all of which have slate sills. A moulded plaster cornice runs around the central gable, and the brick chimney above has paired stacks set diagonally. There is an additional brick chimney on the far right along the lateral wall, featuring six diagonally set clustered stacks with capping.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
