Description

Midhurst Cottage and Post Office is a pair of cottages that may have originally been several separate cottages. They date from the 18th century and were altered in the 20th century. The building features plastered rubble walls and a hipped slate roof, with a gabled section at the rear. There are three large plastered rubble chimney stacks: one at the left end and two lateral stacks at the rear. The layout consists of two adjoining cottages in a row, with a parallel rear range that is divided between the two properties. It is likely that the building was originally several cottages, based on the arrangement of the stacks and staircases. Currently, each cottage has two principal rooms in the front block, with the Post Office located in the end room of the right-hand cottage.

The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical six-window front, with four windows belonging to Midhurst Cottage on the left. The windows are 20th-century, two-light small-paned casements. Midhurst Cottage features a 20th-century lean-to porch to the left of centre with a plank door, while the Post Office at the right end has a lean-to entry with a 19th-century plank door. The parallel range at the rear is set in from the left-hand end. Inside Midhurst Cottage, there is an original fireplace with a plain wooden lintel.
