Description

Manor Cottage is a pair of cottages that were formerly one house, dating from the 16th or 17th century. The building is constructed of rendered stone rubble, with some repairs in brick. It features a thatched half-hipped roof with eyebrow eaves and has stone rubble chimney stacks. The original layout was likely a three-room plan with a through or cross-passage, although the plan has been significantly altered over time, including the demolition of the lower end. There are two axial stacks at the ridge near the ends of the building, and 20th-century outshuts have been added. The cottage is two storeys high and has a four-window range, with small 20th-century casements. The left-hand window on the ground floor may have originally been a doorway for the through or cross-passage. Inside, there is a granite doorway with a four-centred arch that connects the centre and south-west end rooms. The roof space was not accessible during the survey.
