Description

The Thatch is a pair of cottages that were originally built as one house, likely in the 15th or 16th century. The building has one storey and attics, featuring a three-cell cross-entry plan. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a thatched roof that includes a central 19th-century red brick chimney. The windows are 19th and 20th-century casements, and each cottage has a half-glazed panelled entrance door from the 19th or 20th century. The house maintains medieval proportions and appears to have an inserted upper floor in the hall. There are large blocked and concealed fireplaces between the hall and parlour. At the time of the survey, the framing was almost entirely hidden.
