Description
Moats Tye Gospel Hall is a building that originally dates from the 17th century or earlier, initially constructed as a three-cell house and developed in at least two stages. It was converted for its current use in the mid to late 19th century. The building is one storey high with attics, featuring a timber-framed structure that is plastered. It has a thatched roof with an axial chimney, which was rebuilt in 19th century red brick.
The hall has two thatched gabled dormers that contain late 18th century or early 19th century casement windows. In the meeting room, there are two mid 19th century mullioned and transomed windows, while various 19th and 20th century casements are found elsewhere. The entrance porch is timber-framed and slated, and it contains a pair of mid 19th century doors with three panels. The meeting room includes what was formerly the hall and service cell, with the upper floors from this area removed in the 19th century. Additionally, a 19th century outshut has been incorporated into the structure.
