Description
Bluehouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from no later than the early 17th century and may have origins in the medieval period. The building features a hall range and one cross-wing, which dates to around 1600 on the left side. It is one storey high with attics and is constructed with a timber frame. The hall range is covered with beaded weatherboarding from the 18th or early 19th century, while the cross-wing is plastered and includes some 18th or early 19th century herringbone pargetting in panels at the gable, with partial weatherboarding on the side. The roof is thatched and includes a 19th century gabled dormer that is tiled, featuring undulating bargeboards and a small-pane casement window. There are two axial chimneys made of red brick with 18th or early 19th century shafts. The deep bargeboards have an undulating soffit and a spike finial at the gable. The windows are early 19th century small-pane casements, and the entrance door is also from the early 19th century, consisting of six panels with fielded lower panels and glazed upper panels. The interior has not been examined.
