Description
Manor Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located in Moats Tye, Combs. It features a rendered and whitewashed timber frame with a thatched roof and a brick central ridge stack. The cottage is single storey with an attic and has a two-unit plan, likely originally designed with a lobby entry. There is a door on the left side, with a two-light casement window to its right and another two-light window at the far right. A small window is located at the left end, with a similar window above it in the attic. There is a small extension on the right end, and additional casement windows and a door can be found at the rear.
Inside, the framing of light scantling is visible, along with a sloping brick stack. The roof rafters are visible up to collar level in the single-space attic, which does not have any dormers. Manor Cottage is an unusual survival of a small single-storey cottage from this period.
