Description
Forder Cottages is a cottage with a former forge located about 30 metres from the Splash in Widecombe-in-Ponsworthy. It is probably from the early 19th century and is constructed of granite rubble. The cottage is mostly thatched, but the left end has a slated roof. A projecting stone chimneystack with offsets is found in the right gable wall. The building has a single-depth plan, with the house part being two storeys tall and the forge being single storey. The house part features two windows, which are two-light casements with heavy granite lintels, located on the ground storey to the right of a plank door that has a flat hood above it. The forge to the left has a wider doorway and an additional window.
