Description

Vine Cottage, including railings and gate, is a house dating from around 1810, likely built alongside No.19 Elliott Plain. It is constructed of local grey limestone rubble, with the front elevation finished in stucco and blocked out. The roof is slate and hipped at the left end, while the right end connects continuously with No.19 Elliott Plain, which is positioned at right angles. The building features stacks with rendered shafts and is set above Station Road, accessed by lateral steps leading to the entrance. The plan is double-depth and two rooms wide.

The exterior consists of two storeys and a cellar, with a symmetrical three-bay front. The original central door is a six-panel design with fielded upper panels. The doorcase includes one reeded pilaster, an entablature, a cornice, and panelled reveals. There are two original 16-pane hornless sash windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor.

Although the interior has not been inspected, it is expected to contain features of interest. The property also has subsidiary features, including railings topped with spear finials and a tall gate with two tiers of curved diagonal braces.
