Description

This is a pair of houses that now form a terrace of three, located on Elliott Plain in Buckfastleigh. They were built with mass wall construction, rendered and colourwashed, and feature an asbestos slate roof with gabled ends and a stack with rendered shafts. The buildings are two storeys high and have a front with three windows, arranged as 1:1:1.

The central house, No. 1A, has a modern half-glazed front door that is recessed. To the left, No. 2 features a 19th-century four-panel recessed front door, with the lower panels flush. All three houses have 8/8-pane horned sash windows. The right gable end of No. 1 displays curly pierced bargeboards and horned sashes with glazing bars. At the rear, there are three sash windows and a stable door that serves as the entrance to No. 1.

Inside, the internal partitions of No. 1 have been removed on the ground floor, and there is a 20th-century stair. This group of buildings also includes Nos 3-8 Elliott Plain. Nos 1 and 1A were subdivided from the former Bridge Inn.
