Description

This is an outbuilding located approximately 12 meters north of the Chapel, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It was originally an open-fronted store with a loft and is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, with pebbledashed lath and plaster. The roof was made of stone slate but was removed at the time of the resurvey in April 1987. The building has a rectangular plan and is single-storey with a loft.

The south front faces the main entrance to the chapel and features four formerly open-fronted bays divided by timber uprights resting on pyramidal limestone padstones. There are 20th-century painted brick and plank doors blocking three of the bays, with a continuous window strip above the parapets. The far right-hand bay has a heightened entrance that remains open, and there is a two-light window, which is not glazed, likely serving as a former pitching window on the west gable end. A plank door provides access to the loft at the east gable end. Inside, the building has collar beam trusses with interrupted tie-beam construction, and the floor beams are supported midway by posts. This modest agricultural building is situated in an important location, directly opposite the main entrance to the Chapel of Stanley Pontlarge.
