Description
Hillend Farm is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and early 19th century. The 17th-century section features square-panelled timber framing with painted brick infill, and some small areas have been rebuilt in brick. The early 19th-century extension is made of painted brick. The farmhouse has a red tile roof with brick stacks. The original 17th-century range has a rectangular plan and is 1½ storeys high, while the early 19th-century range at the right gable end is 2 storeys high, creating a 'T'-shaped layout.
The entrance front has a forward-facing gable with a 3-light casement window on the timber-framed range. There is an entrance porch to the right of the gable. The early 19th-century range projects forward to the right of the porch and features a sixteen-pane sash window on the ground floor. Above this, there is a blind or blocked window with a surround similar to the ground floor window. The eaves are adorned with brick dentils, and there are axial and gable-end stacks. The interior was not inspected, and the timber-framed range was noted to be in a poor state at the time of the last survey in May 1986.
