Description

This dovecote, dating from the 18th century, is located approximately 20 meters north-west of Tredington Farmhouse. It is constructed of red brick with dressed limestone blocks at each corner and features a red tile roof with a square plan. The south wall has an early plank door set within a blind segmental-headed surround, topped by a flat-chamfered string. Above the doorway is a quatrefoil design, with a similar quatrefoil on the north-east facing gable. The roof is cross-gabled and includes an open-sided wooden entrance lantern, with brick coping on the gables. Inside, the dovecote contains pigeon holes made from courses of dressed limestone blocks, with brick divisions between the holes. Some limestone courses project slightly to serve as perches, and there are some original roof timbers still visible.
