Description
No. 1 Old Baptist Chapel Court is a small cottage dating from the 17th century, located in a row of similar buildings. It features large panel timber-framing with unpainted brick nogging and a tiled roof. The cottage has two storeys and an attic, with a single window on the front. Above a four-light casement window on the first floor, there is a two-light gabled dormer. To the left of the front is a plank door.
Inside, the ground floor has heavy chamfered beams with stepped run-out stops, and to the right, there is a rebuilt deep bressumer fireplace. On the first floor, a door has been cut through a tie-beam, and the roof has heavy purlins. The property extends underneath No. 63 Church Street at ground floor level and above No. 2 Old Baptist Chapel Court in its upper floors.
