Description
62 Barton Street is a house with a shop that dates back to the early 18th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork, a concrete tile roof, and a brick chimney stack. This property is similar to the adjoining No. 61 but lacks a mansard roof. The building has three storeys and a basement, with two windows on the upper floors. The windows are 16-pane sashes set within voussoirs that have fluted keystones and a cornice. The ground floor includes a full-width three-pane shop front, with a six-panel fielded door to the left, which is topped by a three-pane transom light. This is all framed by fluted pilasters and a frieze that has seven unfluted triglyph blocks and a small flat hood. There is a basement opening and flap, and a large brick stack is located at the rear of the back slope. The interior has not been inspected.
