Description
This is a late 18th-century house, likely remodelled from an earlier structure. It stands as part of a row, and originally included a shop. The front is constructed of painted Flemish bond brickwork, while the rear displays remnants of 17th-century timber framing. The rear roof is tiled, with a concrete tile section on the main slope, and has a brick stack. The house is three storeys high with an attic and features a two-window front. The first floor has four-pane sash windows set within segmental arches with slightly haunched detail and stone sills. A three-pane shop front from the 19th century is present. A plank door is set in a broad frame to the right, leading to a throughway. A probable party wall with the adjacent building, No.64 (the Museum), is visible inside. The roof includes a single lay-light to the left. Decorative painted cill bands and moulded eaves are present. Behind the main structure, a large brick stack is visible at the rear eaves. Remnants of timber framing are visible within the back wall, along with a two-light casement window above the throughway. A lower, gabled brick wing in the rear has a 19th-century panelled door. The interior has not been inspected.
