Description
Rowland Hill House is a house with a shop, dating from the early 19th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork, a tiled roof, and brick chimneys. The building stands three storeys high and has two windows. The windows are 16-pane sashes with brick arches and stone sills. The ground floor includes a multi-pane 20th-century shop front beneath a small moulded cornice with lead flashing, which continues over a six-panel door to the right that has a radial fanlight. This door is accessed via three stone steps and is set in a pilaster case with an open pediment. There is a blocked opening to the cellar. Above the first floor, there is a two-course brick string course, and the coped parapet conceals parallel hipped roofs, with two brick stacks on the right gable. The return wall facing Post Office Lane is made of painted brick and features a central light at each level, along with an additional window and door on the ground floor. The rear of the building has replacement 12-pane sashes and a door leading to a glazed wing. The interior has not been inspected.
