Description
No. 74 Church Street is a house in a row, likely built in the 16th or 17th century, with an 18th-century front and an earlier 18th-century back wing. The building is rendered, featuring a slate front slope and a tiled rear roof, with brick stacks. It is a deep structure divided into two parts; the front unit, which originally had a steep-pitched roof, has been raised to a low-pitched slate roof, although early timber-framing is visible in the gable to the west and in the side passage. The house has three storeys and a basement, with one window on the front, featuring plain sashes in exposed boxes. The front has a coped parapet and a brick stack at the left corner. The entrance consists of a 20th-century door located in the throughway to the right, under No. 75. At the back, there is a lower two-storey wing with a gabled end, a toothed verge course, and a tall stack. The interior has not been inspected.
