7/52 Richard Hayward monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary c5m west of John Ireland monument

GV II

Chest tomb to Richard Hayward, died 1612. Limestone with possibly later sandstone capping. Raised oval inscription plaque on north side with standing cherubs either side holding up swag draped over inscription. Unused raised rectangular inscription plaque on south side flanked by narrow panels with linked- hanging floral decoration with ribbon tie at top. Fielded panel at east end with winged hour-glass on pedestal flanked by curving palm leaves. Cartouche without inscription at west end. Leaning badly towards north (March 1985).
