Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory, now a house and two flats, built around 1840. It features a brick exterior mostly covered with incised render and has a slate roof with brick stacks topped with limestone cappings. The building has a rectangular plan with two wings extending at right angles to the rear and stands two storeys tall.
The entrance front is symmetrical with three windows and includes a large flat-roofed porch. To the left of the porch is a tripartite sash window with a moulded architrave, and to the right is a 12-pane sash window, also with a moulded architrave. The first floor has three 12-pane sash windows with dressed stone lintels, and there is a band between the two floors.
The large flat-roofed porch has a plank door accessed by three stone steps, featuring a large fanlight within a moulded architrave. There are pilasters on either side of the doorway and at the corners of the porch. The left wing of the building has two blocked round-headed windows on the ground floor with moulded architraves on brackets, and two 12-pane sash windows on the first floor, with a band between the floors.
On the south-facing elevation, from left to right, there are double glass doors within a moulded architrave, a large 12-pane sash window in a dressed stone surround, and a rectangular bay built of ashlar with round-headed windows and brackets at impost level. The first floor has three 12-pane sash windows, and a moulded stone eaves cornice runs along the top. The roof is hipped with axial stacks, and there are wide stepped stones on the west and south sides. The interior has not been inspected.
