Description
Thatched Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century to the mid-18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It features square-panelled timber framing with pebbledashed infill, and the gable ends are made of coursed squared and dressed limestone. The roof is thatched, adorned with decorative ridge thatching, and there is a limestone and brick stack. A later extension has a concrete tile roof. The building has a rectangular plan with a timber-framed extension at right angles to the rear and a 20th-century timber-framed extension on the gable end of this extension. It is one and a half storeys tall, with 20th-century single-light, two-light, and three-light wooden casements on the ground floor. There are two eyebrow dormers, one with a three-light wooden casement and the other with a two-light casement, which are partly from the 19th century and partly from the 20th century, featuring leaded panes. A single 20th-century two-light casement with glazing bars is located on the right gable end, while the left gable has three casements with timber lintels, including one steel casement with horizontal glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
