Description
Fernlea is a cottage dating from the mid to late 17th century. It features square-panelled timber-framing that is mostly encased in 19th-century brick, with a 20th-century brick extension. The cottage has a thatched roof covering both parts, along with brick stacks and a large external stepped stone gable stack topped with brick. The building is 1½ storeys high. The front facing the road has four segmental-headed 2-light metal casements with horizontal glazing bars, one of which is located within the blocking of a former doorway. The left gable end displays exposed timber-framing. Access to the cottage is now through the 20th-century extension. The interior has not been inspected.
