Description

Crooked Beams is a semi-detached cottage, likely once part of The Cottage, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The structure features square-panelled timber framing with rendered infill and painted brick infill on a coursed squared and dressed limestone plinth. Some walls are completely rendered, while the right gable end is made of random roughly coursed and dressed limestone with a timber-framed gable. The roof is covered with concrete tiles, and there are rendered and painted brick stacks.

The main body of the cottage is 1½ storeys tall and has a rectangular shape with a 20th-century extension on the left gable end, which has a single-storey flat roof and is not of special interest. The facade has two windows, featuring two 2-light steel casements on the ground floor, with the left-hand casement partially blocking a former doorway. All casements have leaded panes. To the right, there is a 20th-century plank door beneath a raking timber canopy. The upper floor includes two 2-light raking dormers with steel casements. The left extension has a 20th-century two-light steel casement, while the right gable end has a two-light wooden casement with horizontal glazing bars. There are gable-end stacks, and the interior has not been inspected.
