Description
The former summerhouse, located immediately north of the perimeter fence of Berkeley Power Station, dates from the 19th century and was once a coastal retreat for the Earls of Berkeley. At the time of the survey in January 1985, it was closed up. This small hexagonal building is constructed of brick and is faced in roughcast, topped with a hipped roof made of Cotswold stone slate. There is a small brick chimney on the southwest side. Access is via a door on the east side, which is reached by four stone steps and features a tongue and groove plank door set in a plain wood surround. The building has look-out windows on the west and northwest faces, each fitted with tongue and groove plank shutters that have large hinges. Additionally, the west face includes a low basement door with steps leading down from ground level.
