Description
Stock House is a large semi-detached house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It features a two-colour brick exterior and a Cotswold stone slate roof, along with a moulded stone cornice, a brick parapet, and brick end stacks. The building has a double range and an additional rear wing to the left, standing two storeys high with an attic in the end gable.
The house has five windows on the upper floor, which are 12-pane sashes with segmental heads, set under curved brick voussoirs and moulded wood architraves. The ground floor includes four similar windows and a central doorcase that is accessed by six stone steps. The door itself has six fielded panels, flanked by side pilasters, topped with an open pediment on consoles and a radial fanlight.
In front of the house, there are plain contemporary wrought iron railings at pavement level, featuring urns at the corners of the steps. To the right, there are double gates with a spearhead and scroll design, likely from the 19th century.
