Description
The Mariners' Arms is an inn that dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, built on foundations believed to be from around 1490. The building is constructed of roughcast faced rubble stone, featuring a slate roof at the front and a pantile roof at the rear, along with three brick chimney stacks. It has a single front range and a rear wing to the right, standing two storeys tall. The front facade includes four windows with three-light wood mullions, and three similar windows on the ground floor. There is a wide doorcase to the left of centre, topped with a flat hood. The right-hand side of the building has a large chimney stack that projects halfway and a large sloping brick buttress. The rear wing features stone mullion windows with two and three lights, complete with wood lintels. Inside, the inn retains many original beams.
