Description

Gossington Hall is a large detached dwelling dating to circa 1695. It is constructed of brick with stone slate roofing, featuring a hipped roof with a flat central section and two large brick stacks. The building has brick raised quoins and an eaves cornice. The layout is a typical compact block of its era, with a single-storey brick quadrant projecting from the south-west corner. The house has two storeys plus an attic, with a five-window front. Sashes with glazing bars are present, along with three hipped dormers containing two-light casements. A mid-20th century central entrance with a flat hood is on the north front. The east front features a central bay brought slightly forward, with a pediment and lunette, containing a good six-panel door within an architrave, and protected by a flat hood on brackets. On the south front, a later 18th-century canted bay with a stone entablature is present, with two window openings blocked. The interior has been extensively modified, although some original panelled doors remain.
