MINCHINHAMPTON CIRENCESTER ROAD Peaches Farm, barn 20 m to the south of Peaches Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, incorporating cow house and granary. C17, but possibly in two or even three builds. Cotswold stone rubble with dressed quoins and Cotswold stone slate roof a small slope of which has been replaced by corrugated asbestos sheeting. A long low range with central gabled cart entry and a cowhouse with granary over projecting from the centre of the rear. Slit vents, one roof light, external stone stairs to granary. Very little external alteration. Internally the cowhouse has a heavy beamed ceiling and surviving stalls. In the barn the roofs are three bays on either side of the entry although the west end is partly divided off. Principal rafter with staggered purlins, tie beams, original rafters, slight ridge piece to part. The granary roof has three pairs of raised crucks or principals with curved feet, collars, staggered purlins and original rafters some of which are missing. The principals are halved and pegged at the apex. An early Cotswold barn in little altered condition.
