Peaches Farm, Barn 20 Metres To The South Of Peaches Farmhouse

Peaches Farm barn, located 20 meters south of Peaches Farmhouse, is a barn that also incorporates a cow house and granary. It dates from the 17th century and may have been built in two or even three phases. The structure is made of Cotswold stone rubble with dressed quoins and features a Cotswold stone slate roof, although a small section has been replaced with corrugated asbestos sheeting. The barn is a long, low range with a central gabled cart entry and a cowhouse with a granary above, which projects from the center of the rear. It includes slit vents, one roof light, and external stone stairs leading to the granary. There has been very little external alteration.

Inside, the cowhouse has a heavy beamed ceiling and retains some original stalls. The barn features three bays on either side of the entry, although the west end is partly divided off. It has principal rafters with staggered purlins, tie beams, and original rafters, with a slight ridge piece in part. The granary roof consists of three pairs of raised crucks or principals with curved feet, collars, staggered purlins, and original rafters, some of which are missing. The principals are halved and pegged at the apex. This barn is an early example from the Cotswold region and remains in little altered condition.
