Description
The Ragged Cot Inn is an inn dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from ashlar and tufa limestone, featuring ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high with a rear wing. The west front has a tufa elevation with ashlar dressings and features a two-window arrangement. The ground floor has three-light, 20th-century restored chamfered mullioned casements, while the upper floor has small-pane casements in dormers located at the eaves level. There is a central porch with a gabled parapet, an off-centre doorway, and a single-light window to the right. The gabled ends of the parapet have chimneys with plain caps. On the north end, there are two blocked lancet windows on the upper floor, with a central blocked circular window above. The rear wing includes a 20th-century extension that is not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected. It is noted that an earlier building, believed to have been constructed around 1610, was presumably completely replaced.
