Description

The Grange is a detached house that dates back to the early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the early and mid-19th century. The building features random rubble construction with some areas of roughcast render, and the west range has ashlar stonework. The chimneys are rebuilt in ashlar and blue brick, and the roof is covered with stone slates.

The house is two stories high with an attic, and it has a large two-story west-facing wing added in the 19th century. The south front showcases the gable end of the west range on the left, next to a rebuilt or restored two-story porch from the 19th century, which has a tall two-light upper floor mullioned casement. To the right are two windows with cavetto mullioned design, all four-light with hoodmoulds. Above the right casements is a rebuilt full gable from the 19th century, featuring a small attic casement.

On the east side, there is a parapet gable end to the left with a central projecting chimney stack. An attached two-story wing from the 19th century extends to the right, featuring a Tudor arched doorway that faces directly onto the lane. The west front is designed in a mid-19th century Gothic style, with a two-story canted bay window to the left of center, which has trefoil-headed mullioned lights and a coped hipped top. To the right is a pedimented porch that also features Gothic openings. There are various other casements, some with Tudor arches, and the parapet rises in the center. The interior was not inspected, and the property was overgrown and not fully accessible at the time of the survey in October 1986.
