Description
This is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with additions made in the early and mid-19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of random rubble limestone, primarily roughcast rendered, with an ashlar west front. It has ashlar chimneys and a stone and asbestos slate roof. The building is two storeys with an attic, arranged in an L-shape with further ranges extending to the north and west. The west front has a three-window arrangement, with 16-pane sash windows in plain openings. A sill band runs along the upper floor. A moulded cornice with a blocking course sits above. The central doorway is flanked by a Tuscan pedimented porch, featuring delicate leaf carving within the tympanum. Plain gable chimneys are present. The oldest part of the house is set back on the south side, featuring a full gable and retaining a two-light chamfered mullioned casement window in the attic. A timber casement window is located below. A 19th-century addition connects to the west range. This section has two ridge chimneys, one with a moulded cap, and a parapet gable to the east end. A mid- to late-19th century addition facing north features a four-window arrangement of two-light chamfered mullioned casements. A central doorway is accessed via a glazed door and a gabled porch hood supported by shaped stone brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
