Description

This is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with an early 19th-century addition. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, with ashlar and concrete block rebuilt chimneys, and a stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys with an attic. The original part of the house, to the left, has a two-window front elevation, with timber-framed windows featuring leaded iron casements and timber lintels. A central, gabled porch from the early 19th century provides access via double plank doors, with small round arched windows on its sides. To the right is a later addition, featuring single 12-pane sash windows in plain openings on both floors. There are three chimneys positioned along the ridge of the roof. The west end has an off-centre doorway with a stone lintel, and a leaded attic casement. An outshut is located at the rear. The interior was not inspected, but the original timber-framed front windows retain their panelled shutters. It is a relatively intact example of a farmhouse of this period, retaining its original window arrangement. The farmhouse is part of a group which includes a barn and a stable with a cartshed.
