Description
PAINSWICK GLOUCESTER STREET SO 8609/8709 (west side) 7/102 Hillworth House, with boundary wall and pier GV II Shown on large scale OS as Rockleigh. House at end of short row. Early C19. Limestone ashlar, stone slate roof, rebuilt gable stacks. Two and a half storeys and part cellar, 3 windows. Cellar opening low, left in plinth; at ground floor 12-pane sashes flanking recessed 4-pane part glazed door up 2 steps in lead surround with cornice and apron over, recessed foot scraper. Above first floor string acanted 4:16:4-pane oriel with intersecting Gothick bars, a 16-pane sash the same, and 12-pane with straight cornice. Two segmental-headed 2-light dormers. Left return has 2 chamfer surround lights to roof space, one blocked, one with Cl9 iron casement; at mid level a central pointed blocked opening and, left, a double chamfered opening. Door, set deep, to left, and small single light to right. To left is square gate pier to moulded cap with ball finial, and a long run of rubble garden wall, coped and swept.
