Description
The Schoolroom, built in 1844, is a single-storey structure located on Gloucester Street in Painswick. It features a hipped Welsh slate roof and is constructed from limestone ashlar. The front facade includes two round-headed sash windows with radial bars, set in plain raised architraves with keystones, alongside a similar blind opening. On the left side, facing the courtyard, there are a pair of fielded-panel doors within reveals, surrounded by a plain band that leads to a round-arched opening, along with one window matching those on the street side. The building has a plinth that rises to meet the pavement at the higher end and is topped with a moulded cornice and blocking course. Adjacent to the Schoolroom is a length of limestone ashlar wall with plain coping, which contains two square piers, each measuring 450 mm and standing 2 meters high with pyramidal cappings atop a square cornice. To the far left, there is a taller pier of the same design, which is next to the Baptist Chapel.
