Description

Hill House is an 18th-century house located in Little Rissington village. It was originally known as Clark's Hill Farmhouse. The house is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins and has a concrete tile roof with ashlar stacks. The original rectangular main body is accompanied by an 18th-century stair projection at the rear, along with later extensions of the 18th or early 19th century to the right gable end. A further gabled extension, likely dating to the 19th century, runs at right angles to the rear.

The two-storey house has an attic lit by two tile-hung, 20th-century two-light dormers. The front facade has a four-window arrangement with 3- and 4-light stone-mullioned casement windows, some of which have replaced mullions with wooden casements retaining their original surrounds on the ground floor. All windows have stopped hoods. A 20th-century glass door is centrally positioned in the main body, featuring glazing bars within a moulded surround with a keystone and stopped hood. An oval stone plaque displaying the house name sits above the door. Stone-mullioned casements are also present on the rear projections. Gable-end and axial stacks have moulded cappings and skirtings. The roof has saddleback coping. A 18th-century spear-headed cast iron railing sits atop a low ashlar wall at the front, featuring urn finials to the stanchions.
