Description
Rose Cottage is a detached 18th-century cottage located north of Enever House in Little Rissington, and was restored in the mid-20th century. It is built of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. The cottage has a rectangular main body with a gable end facing the road, a later extension to the rear, and a 19th-century extension to the right gable end. A more recent flat-roofed extension to the front is not of special interest.
The main body of the cottage is two storeys and has an attic. The front facade originally had two windows, now replaced with 20th-century metal casements, with a Sun Insurance plaque positioned between the two upper windows. The ground floor is obscured by a 20th-century flat-roofed extension. The left gable end features a three-light stone-mullioned oriel window dated and initialled 'H/1940/B' on the first floor. Below this, a smaller two-light stone-mullioned window with pointed heads to each light is present, and to the left, a single light with a double chamfered surround and leaded panes. Rear windows are 20th-century metal casements with leaded panes. A 20th-century plank door with fillets and decorative studding is located in the extension to the rear of the main body. The cottage has gable-end stacks. The interior was not inspected.
