Description
Hillside House is a Grade II listed building located in Little Rissington. Originally three cottages, it has been converted into one residence. The structure dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with an early 19th-century extension. It is constructed from orange and cream coloured coursed squared and dressed limestone. The roof primarily features concrete tiles on the street-facing side, with some remaining stone slates at the front and more at the rear. The ashlar stacks have been restored and feature incised render.
The building has an 'L'-shaped plan, with the late 17th to early 18th-century section positioned on the corner, its gable end facing the main road. The early 19th-century section is at right angles to this. All parts of the building are two storeys with an attic. The right side features two and three-light wooden casements with timber lintels and horizontal glazing bars. To the left-hand return, there is one three-light and one single-light 20th-century stone-mullioned casement, along with one stone-mullioned casement from the late 17th to early 18th century. The first floor of the gable end facing the main road has a two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement, and there is a single double-chamfered garret light in the attic. The entrance features a 20th-century fielded six-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. The building has axial and gable-end stacks.
