Description
Enever House is a former house and adjoining cottage, now combined into one residence. The main house dates from the 18th century, while the cottage is from the 19th century. The house is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with an ashlar facade, while the cottage features orange coloured coursed squared and dressed limestone. Both sections have a stone slate roof on the forward-facing pitch, with concrete tiles at the rear.
The main body of the building has a rectangular plan and is two storeys high with an attic, which is lit by two 2-light rendered roof dormers. The facade is symmetrical with two windows and features flat-chamfered quoins. The stone-mullioned cross windows have keystones, and there is a central 20th-century plank door with fillets set within a flat-chamfered Tudor arched surround, also with a keystone. A band runs between the ground and first floors.
The 19th-century cottage to the right has a lower roofline and includes a two-light wooden casement window within a segmental-headed surround on the ground floor, and a similar three-light casement on the first floor. There is a 20th-century gabled stone-built porch to the left, which has a 19th-century four-panelled door at the front. Both parts of the building feature stacks and flat coping at their gable ends. There are also 20th-century flat-roofed garage and extensions at the rear, which are not of special interest.
