Description
No 81 (Vine House) and No 81A (Vine Cottage) are mid-19th century buildings located on Bowbridge Lane. They are constructed from hammer-dressed rubble and consist of three storeys. The buildings feature mullioned windows with iron glazing bars, including one arched window with bar tracery and hoodmoulds, some stained glass, an oriel window, and a canted bay with a crenellated parapet. The gables are adorned with elaborate bargeboards. There is a porch with an ogival roof supported by columns with crocketed capitals, and a paired chimneystack. The property includes iron gates topped with urn finials and an arched gateway to the garden on the north side, which has a crow-stepped parapet and a wooden gate with arched and cusped panelling. Nos 81 to 97 (odd) are part of a group with Bowbridge House on London Road.
