Description
Billow Farmhouse and the attached former granary date from the early 18th century, with 19th-century additions. The farmhouse has an L-shaped core made of coursed rubble stone and features a hipped slate roof with brick stacks. A large square wing to the southwest is constructed from coursed and dressed stone, with brick patterns in the gables and a concrete tile roof. There are also smaller brick ranges to the east with pantile roofs.
The building is two storeys high with an attic, and the main front faces north. It has three windows, mostly 2-light casements set under segmental brick arches or timber lintels. The doorway, located to the right of centre, has a pointed brick arch and features a half-glazed door with diagonal slatting, sidelights, and a decorative moulded wood frame. The additional southwest wing has two gables facing east, with renewed 6-light wooden mullion windows on the left and 2 and 3-light windows on the right.
The granary projects forward at the northeast corner and is built from random coursed rubble with a slate roof. Stone steps lead up to a door in the north gable, which has an arched kennel beneath it, along with a storeroom door to the right. There are additional small ranges behind the granary to the east, but these are not of special interest.
