Description
Fountain House, formerly an inn, dates from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three windows at the front. These windows are sash windows with glazing bars set within bead-moulded surrounds and are topped by segmental brick arches with stone keys. A central sash window at the rear has an arched head and glazing bars, including radial patterns. A small sash window illuminates the roof space within the right-hand gable. A new central door is set beneath a flat stone hood supported by brackets. A stone plaque, the inscription of which is no longer decipherable, is set into the brickwork above the door. Painted lettering indicating "Fountain Inn" is still visible on the rear wall. Newer extensions have been added: a single-storey extension to the right and a two-storey extension to the left.
