Description

No 9 Weir Lane is a former pair of houses that has been converted into a single detached house. It dates back to the 15th century but has been significantly rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building features a timber frame with lias and brick rebuilding, brick chimneys, and a concrete replacement tile roof. It is a two-bay, single-storey structure with an attic, and has a two-storey cross wing that forms a T-plan.

On the west gable end, there is a half-hipped roof with a cut pair of crucks visible in the partially timber-framed wall; the lower part is constructed in brick and includes a 20th-century casement window and a single attic casement. The north side displays square framing to the right, with scattered windows including a small oriel and a very small casement, along with a small raking dormer above. To the left of a plank door, the wall is built in brick.

The south side features a projecting gable end of the cross wing on the right, made of a mix of brick and lias, with a projecting brick chimney. The wall to the left has been rebuilt in brick and has scattered fenestration with three casements, along with a ridge-mounted brick chimney.

The east elevation is two-storey and half-hipped to the right, constructed entirely of coursed lias rubble. It has scattered windows, including a segmental arched doorway with a plank door and single segmental arched casements to the left, one for each storey, as well as a small upper floor casement to the right of the doorway. Inside, there are additional crucks and very thick, square section curved windbraces in the attic.
